I’m Sylvia Stepp — an illustrator and visual storyteller studying Illustration with a Creative Writing minor at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit.
I create character-driven illustration and short-form narrative work shaped by a multicultural upbringing, study and travel across four continents, and a lifelong grounding in dance and musical theatre. My focus is people: how they move, what they carry, and how stories shift across borders.
That approach earned recognition from the 2024 Scholastic Art Awards — a Gold Key for character illustration, a Silver Key, and honorable mentions — in the Southeast Michigan & Thumb Region. I draw primarily in digital media — Procreate, Photoshop, and Clip Studio Paint — with sketchbook studies informing my characters and compositions.
I am currently available for illustration commissions and actively seeking internship opportunities for Spring/Summer 2027.
